INTERVIEW: Concept.

They're the rising boyband, with 80,000 Twitter followers & an army of fans, but what is so likeable about Concept? It's time to ask the boys themselves... Here's our interview with Concept:

Do you plan to release an album/EP in 2014?
"We are really keen to release an EP this year. We've all been writing & have a lot of original material that we want to put out there. All of us enjoy listening to songs with strong lyrical content & we really want to be able to have our own songs with strong lyrics, great melodies & memorable choruses. Most importantly, we want music that represents us, but is also relatable... It's a balancing act! We're very ambitious & have high hopes for our songs, but we believe it's all possible. In the process, we will probably write some utter rubbish & some cheese, but it's all a learning process for us. It's all great practise. Every day's a school day..."

Do you plan to do a UK tour?
"Yes! We've wanted to travel for a long time now. We love being on the road together & it would be a perfect opportunity to meet more of our incredible fans & say thank you. We're in the midst of setting up a few things. We're still discussing ideas but there are definitely plans for a tour, but they're all top secret for now... Stay tuned! Who knows, you might even be seeing us on someone else's tour very soon!"

What makes you unique from other groups/bands?
"What makes us unique? Great question. The main thing is our appeal. As a band, we've been shocked by how many different age groups love what we do. People from 6 to 60 appreciate our live music. It's literally incredible! We think that it's because of the diverse spread of musical genres within the band from hip hop & soul, to rock & R&B. All of it mixed together must draw various age groups to us. It also makes our sound easy to distinguish when you hear covers."

"We'd also say that our chemistry on stage is a factor, when we perform you can see we've all be friends for a long time, we all grew up together so it comes naturally. Last, but not least, it would have to be the use of acoustic guitar in our live performances, all of our songs are stripped back live. Purely guitar and vocals meaning our harmonies and our voices stand out."

What do you want to achieve in 2014?
"There's a lot on our to-do list for 2014. Firstly, quit all of our jobs & make Concept our full time commitment. We all work part time outside of the band so leaving those jobs would be a huge step. We also want to perform at a bundle of festivals & do as much travelling as possible & hopefully we'll get the opportunity to perform at some festivals abroad. We'd love to have a song in the charts this year, that would really put us on the map. Take a trip, or two, or three, out to Europe & America. Have a completed EP with a backlog of well-written original material. We'd definitely say the ultimate goal is to get some form of investment/record/publishing deal this year so we can fully realise our dreams & ambitions as musicians & performers. 2014 is a huge year for us."

Who's single & who isn't?
"Ben is the only one of us who is in a relationship. He's been in one for a while. We always joke that he's married, but he is happy which is important to all of us. The rest of us boys however are 100% single."

What's been the rudest comment, tweet or DM from a fan?
"Now that is a tough one... We get a lot of forward comments from fans but most of them are directed at Scott. A lot of comments about him removing clothing. Apparently a lot of teenage girls want to throw themselves at him, but off the top of our heads, we can't remember."
